But you don’t have to be part of the most iconic sound laboratory in the world to appreciate what Tony does.
Tony’s first experience with electronics began with his highly interesting and unusual childhood. When he was six years old, his family started a 14 year adventure sailing around the world in a 47’ trimaran.
During one excursion from the Galapagos to the Marquesas Islands, when Tony was just 12, he and his brother took some broken electronics they scavenged from the trimaran, and built two radios from scratch so they could talk to each other from their separate cabins.
In Tahiti he bought his first record player. He’d take it to the bar in the famed Hotel Stuart (yes, Matisse and Gauguin lived there), and played music for the patrons. That’s when Tony first got hooked on music, and when sound first became his passion.
Tony decided to build that passion into a business. He landed a job as a salesman for Catania Sound in Marin County, a retail store owned by Charles Catania, one of the country’s most renowned and respected audio engineers. Catania engineered the first communication system for BART, engineered and installed the sound system for St. Mary’s Cathedral in San Francisco, and engineered the first FM broadcast in San Francisco. Charles Catania became Tony’s mentor, and before long Tony was Catania’s top salesman, and soon after was promoted to manager of the Marin County store in Greenbrae, California.
In the ever changing world of electronics, Tony and his distinguished crew take every opportunity to further their knowledge. They subscribe to trade journals that keep them always on the leading edge of audio and video technology. Tony is not only ISF certified, but also teaches ISF classes. Between trade shows, seminars, webinars, and contact with his peers from around the world, Tony learns about new technology long before the products become available.
Tony is also well known throughout the country for his calibration expertise. When he was first introduced to calibrating in 1996, he became speechless at the difference in picture. That’s when he promised himself that no customer should ever have to suffer with an inferior picture. He owns and uses highly sophisticated instruments that assist him in producing the finest TV pictures in the world.

Tony and Chris regularly attend the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to learn about the newest and best products in the industry, thereby giving Chris a glimpse at the future of technology. He is enthusiastic about providing the best of the ever changing and improving technology to his customers at Home Theater Solutions.
